Manifesto
Curator
Resident of Morocco for over ten years. Every address in this guide has been personally visited, tested, and validated — often multiple times. No paid placements, no compromises.
Best of Marrakech is an editorial guide written by residents. Not an algorithm, not a review aggregator, not a sponsored directory. A subjective, unapologetic perspective rooted in the city — on the addresses that truly matter.
We don't sell placement. No address pays to appear in this guide. We don't publish user reviews — because the problem with reviews is that there are too many and they say nothing. We have no investors to satisfy, no growth metrics to hit. Just one requirement: that every address published is one we would recommend to a friend.
Every venue is visited, tested, and written by someone who lives in Marrakech. We look for three things: authenticity (not Instagram facades), consistency (not fleeting hype), and character (not cookie-cutter copies). A restaurant can be a hole-in-the-wall or a palace — what matters is that it's irreplaceable.
There is no locally rooted, multi-category editorial guide written by residents for Marrakech. Tourist guides are written from Paris. TripAdvisor is noise. Google Maps cannot tell the remarkable from the mediocre. This gap is not a niche — it's the entire market.
