Médina
« The cultural crossroads where all of Marrakech meets»
Incontournable

Cafe Clock is a happy accident turned institution. Ahmed Naji opened this space in 2014 in the Kasbah, the medina's southern quarter, with the idea of creating a place where cultures cross — and it worked beyond all expectations. Today, Cafe Clock is Marrakech's cultural crossroads: Gnaoua concerts on Sundays, Moroccan cooking workshops on Tuesdays, storytelling sessions on Thursdays, and programming that changes every week.
The building is a riad on four levels, with terraces stacked to the roof. Each floor has its personality: the ground floor is a traditional tea salon, the first floor an intimate concert hall, the second a quiet workspace, and the rooftop a terrace with views over Kasbah rooftops and minarets. The vibe is that of a literary cafe transported to the Maghreb — books freely available, event posters everywhere, a sound system shifting from chaabi to jazz without transition.
The camel burger became the signature dish despite itself. Originally ordered as a curiosity, it's now served twenty to thirty times per service — camel meat patty, caramelized onions, harissa, in a soft bun. It's good, it's original, and it gives you something to talk about. But the menu goes well beyond: tagines, salads, Moroccan pastries, and mint tea served by the book.
Cafe Clock draws a surprisingly mixed crowd: young Marrakchis who come for the concerts, expats who hold their meetings here, cultural tourists discovering the workshops, and solo travelers who appreciate the no-pressure atmosphere. The wifi is reliable, the staff is warm, and nobody will bother you if you stay three hours with a single tea.
A telling detail: the Gnaoua musicians who play here do it for the love, not the tips. That's the difference between a performance cafe and a living space.
Cafe Clock earns its place because it invented something that didn't exist: a cultural space that's open, free, and authentically Marrakchi.
