Médina
« The best fresh pasta in all of Marrakech»
Découverte

You don't expect to find the best pasta of your life in a Marrakech medina riad. And yet. Pepe Nero is that delicious anomaly — an Italian restaurant run by Italians, in a Moroccan riad, that refuses any compromise on the food and is right to do so.
The pasta is made fresh every morning. The tagliatelle are rolled by hand, the ravioli are filled daily, the gnocchi have that lightness that betrays know-how passed down through generations. The pomodoro sauce is a lesson in humility: tomatoes, basil, olive oil, salt — nothing else, and yet everything is there. The vongole, when on the menu, is a moment of pure bliss.
The setting is a tastefully restored riad: open-air patio, central fountain, zellige on the walls, candles everywhere. In the evening, the atmosphere is romantic without being forced — candlelight reflects in the fountain water, and conversations from neighboring tables create a pleasant murmur. Patio tables are the most requested; in winter, the indoor room, with its banquettes and white tablecloths, is equally welcoming.
The tiramisu is legendary — and that's not a word used lightly. Creamy mascarpone, biscuits soaked in strong coffee, bitter cocoa on top. It's the tiramisu you'll compare every other to for the rest of your life.
Ingredients are partly imported from Italy (cheeses, olive oil, certain flours) and partly local (market vegetables, fresh herbs). The chef makes no compromises on sourcing, and you taste it on the plate.
The clientele is a mix of Italian expats who come out of nostalgia, couples seeking a romantic dinner, and food lovers who know that great Italian cuisine doesn't have to be in Italy.
Pepe Nero earns its place because it proves you can be faithful to a culinary tradition while being perfectly at home in another country.
